Groaning & Glory Suffering in the Shadow of the Kingdom
May 3, 2026 • John Fortune
At the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus, we believe that this world has been redeemed from the curse of sin, the power of death has been defeated and the Kingdom of God has been inaugurated (established). Through the lens of Inaugurated Eschatology (Kingdom Now), suffering is seen as the "birth pains" of the New Creation—a space where the power of the Resurrection meets the brokenness of the Old Age. We cannot make sense of suffering without our faith being firmly grounded in the fact and promise of the resurrection.
